Growing and Slowing

Spending the whole day with your mom can be, well, spending the whole day with your mom. Today, my daughter and I spent the day with my mom and it was actually so good.  We ate good food, we laughed, we cried, we bought 18 herb plants for our new garden, stopped by a farm store, and built the baby a swing-A huge primary colored swing that makes our very color coordinated home feel like a McDonald's playhouse. Anyhow, I may have not moved like a snail intentionally today but I did in fact move like a snail in the sense that it took us an entire 10 hour day to get one garden bed planted. But hey, we did it. Now, I am going to start some seeds indoors for flowers, a lot of which are natural dye plants. That's my next creative adventure, natural dyeing. I have been saying that I wanted to experiment with natural dyeing for years and I am finally doing it. I am also planning to make my own natural inks. I am so excited. Anyhow, I am beginning to trust the process again and am beginning to remember that things have a way of working out. In "The End of The Beginning: Being The Adventures of a Small Snail (and an Even Smaller Ant)" the ant and the snail get to the same place at the same time after the snail has inched forward the smallest bit and the ant has zoomed all over the place. I used to be the ant but now I feel a heck of a lot more like the snail. And that's okay.
