Hello there! My name is Katherine M Yatsko and I am a mover, maker, and mama based in PA. These three “m”s are the basis for who I am as an interdisciplinary artist working in dance, performance, installation, and illustration. I use whatever means and media necessary for exploring the themes of my work; Work that is rooted in interactions, the idea that everything is connected and that we can find ways to integrate our interests, hopes, dreams, fears, and desires. Believing that art can be a means of processing for both the creator and the consumer, one desire of my practice is to create space for feeling. Allowing my work to change over time, I recognize that creating (like mothering) requires letting go. Making and mothering also require vulnerability, an openness to becoming. When people view my work, I want them to come with this openness so that we can grow together. As I have oscillated between visual and performing arts, I have also realized that art making is often about meaning making and I am always seeking to see the greater connections, to recognize the warps and wefts of this wild life, to weave it all together.
